A notebook for the gorges

Canyon.cc is an independent, personal editorial project about the sport of canyoning — the descent of water-carved gorges by walking, swimming, jumping and rappelling. It exists for one reason: to gather, in one calm place, the things a curious newcomer wants to understand before heading into a canyon.

What this site is

• A growing directory of canyons around the world, with honest specs.
• Long-form articles on technique, safety, gear and ethics.
• A plain-language explanation of the grading system.
• A space with no advertising, no bookings and nothing for sale.

What this site is not

It is not a booking agency, a shop or a brand. It has no commercial affiliation with any company, and the word “canyon” here means exactly what the dictionary says: a deep gorge cut by water. The content is informational and never a substitute for proper training or the judgement of a qualified guide.
