Cool

The Llech is a favourite first 'real' canyon: vertical enough to feel like the genuine article, but short and forgiving enough to enjoy without anxiety. Tucked under the Canigou massif, it runs through warm granite with clean pools and natural slides that make the day feel like play rather than effort.

Highlights

  • Smooth granite slides into clear pools
  • A good mix of short rappels and jumps
  • Sunny aspect that warms the water
  • Quick approach and easy exit

The approach

A short, well-marked walk-in from the road leads to the entry. The exit path returns to the same valley, making logistics simple — no long car shuttle needed.

The descent

The canyon strings together a series of short rappels, a few optional jumps and several natural toboggans. Nothing is sustained or committing, which makes it ideal for consolidating rope skills in a low-stress setting.

Good to know

  • Very popular on summer weekends — start early
  • Granite slides can be abrasive; protect your wetsuit seat
  • Flow drops late summer, confirming a fun, low-water descent
